( 122 cm x 92 cm ) 4 foot wide x 3 foot high ..... Victorian Period Piece in beautiful period Victorian frame ............................ Description: The painting is called "St Benedetto looking towards Fusina " Turner's rendition whilst in Venice, Italy. The original hangs at the TATE Liverpool with an estimated value of £ M 50 Plus...................ABOVE IMAGE IS " LIKE FOR LIKE " ................( We challenge you to " Spot the difference ! " ) ....... .........The interesting thing about this painting is that of the 540 Turner paintings known on record "St Benedetto looking towards Fusina "is the favorite painting of John Ruskin who was Turner's mentor and later Ruskin dedicated his life to Turner the artist exclusively ...John Ruskin was the leading Victorian Art critic of his day......................We believe that Turner painted this one of his favorite scenes in Venice Italy again in a looser ( Preferred style ) without the pressures the paint commercially ( Figuratively ) as a gift to his daughter ( With has her name on the back : Miss Matthews .. Nee Turner ) ..... Whilst Ruskin didn't buy this his favorite painting it ended up in the national collection . It has been viewed by most senior members of staff at major auction houses and has been taken very seriously. It has been scrutinised for clues to authenticity and has been described as “ Mesmerising , Fantastic and hypnotic “ and very well painted in some places however weak in other areas. Deputy Chairman Sothebys . The piece is signed on the rear of the painting by " Miss Matthews " It is a period piece with period frame approximately the 1860’s and displays all the same characteristics as the one in the TATE Liverpool with " Craquelure ".................. Normally, Craquelure is formed by the aging of paints. It can be used to determine the age of paintings and to detect Art forgery . And because craquelure is a hard-to-forge it is seen in many cases to be a signature pointing towards authenticity. It is definitely of the period................. Whilst Turner very rarely painted two of the same painting -unless it was a sketch. The view of St Benedetto that Turner painted was highly championed by John Ruskin. "Miss Matthews" is signed on the back of the painting along with a number that appears to be a Bonhams Number and fitting the period ............... The painting has been in a private collection over the years and originates from Oxfordshire before it came to London. It has not been recorded in the discoveries of Turners paintings as most were donated to the nation after his death ........... JMW Turner was one of the most prolific painters the world has ever known having done thousands of works including watercolours and sketches. Of which it is believed that he produced on average two ( 2 ) a day............ In this day and age we now have superior technology to authenticate paintings but that even now it is a long drawn out process “ On the road to Authenticity” “ An incredible likeness of a Turner - A truly amazing and unique Victorian period work of art “ ..... it will grace any living space as this is truly an amazing and very beautiful work of art .....VERY RARE ......And is for the discerning collector .............. " ART is ART ...... everything else is everything else " ........... ..........................." The Romance is in the Originals "
